Flour Bluff ISD Fine Arts
The Flour Bluff ISD Fine Arts Department believes that a Fine Arts education is essential for the development of the whole child. The arts provide students with unique experiences that allow them to explore their passions, maximize their creativity and critical thinking skills, and learn valuable lessons about self-motivation, dedication, teamwork and communication.
Students build creativity, critical thinking, and artistic skills through drawing, painting, and sculpture, culminating in a districtwide collaborative project connecting elementary, junior high, and high school art programs.
Music
Students engage in music through singing, instrumental play, movement, and performance, building creativity, collaboration, and cultural appreciation from early childhood through high school.
Dance
High school students develop technique, expression, and teamwork through dance courses and team performances, building discipline, creativity, and school spirit in both artistic and competitive settings.
Theatre
Students learn acting, directing, and technical theatre—including lighting, sound, and set design—while building confidence, teamwork, and creativity through live performances and hands-on production experience.

Texas All State Music Qualifiers
January 2025, Flour Bluff HS placed 5 Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) All-State Qualifiers. These high school students successfully advanced through a rigorous series of auditions to earn a spot in one of the prestigious TMEA All-State ensembles to represent FBHS at the highest level of musical achievement for Texas high school musicians.
“Only about 2-3% of the tens of thousands of students who begin the audition process make it to All-State.
Liz Ortega-RuizFBISD Director of Fine Arts
It’s considered one of the highest honors a Texas high school musician can achieve.”
